故事根据英国著名的动物学家，作家Gerald Durrell那本自传小说《我的家人和其他动物》（My Family and Other Animals）改编。原著讲述Durrell一家1935年从英国搬到希腊小岛Corfu之后的生活经历。。高中生莎蒂（索菲·撒切尔 Sophie Thatcher 饰）和妹妹苏伊尔（维维恩·莱拉·布莱尔 Vivien Lyra Blair 饰）沉浸在丧母之痛中，但却无法从身为心理治疗师的父亲威尔（克里斯·梅西纳 Chris Messina 饰）身上得到任何安慰。某天一名绝望的病患（大卫·达斯马齐连 David Dastmalchian 饰）前来拜访威尔寻求治疗，却意外带来骇人的超自然生物，一连串不合理的事件接连发生，恐惧将吞噬他们一家人。。Angel, a member of a punk rock band in the apocalyptic future, is kidnapped by Mok, a legendary superocker.
