年轻少女贝丝•雷蒙德（Shannyn Sossamon 莎妮•索萨蒙 饰）正经历人生最恐怖的时刻。她的两位好友谢莉（Meagan Good 饰）和琳恩（Azura Skye 饰）短短几天内相继遭遇横祸，离奇死亡。更为恐怖的是，她们在死前的几天皆收到来自自己手机的语音短信，短信不仅预告了死期，还录下她们惊恐绝望的呼叫。此后几天，贝丝更亲眼目睹其他几位朋友的死亡，阴森肃杀的气氛在她们之间蔓延。
